Citizens Tip Leads to DUI Arrest of Michigan Woman

At approximately 8:12 a.m. Tuesday, a citizen’s tip led to the arrest of Ashley Imler, 32, Watervliet, MI. Imler was incarcerated in the Miami County Jail for a felony charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction.

This morning a motorist called 911 to report a Dodge Magnum driving erratically, with its emergency flashers activated, on U.S. 31.  Officers located the Dodge traveling southbound near Miami County Road 300 North. The Dodge was tracked allegedly traveling 81 miles per hour in a posted 60 miles per hour zone, with flashers activated.  An officer with the Peru Police Department and Indiana State Police Captain Jeremy Kelly stopped the Dodge near County Road 200 North.

The officers detected the smell of alcohol emitting from the vehicle and noticed signs of intoxication from the driver identified as Imler.  She also purportedly failed a standard field sobriety tests. Further investigation revealed Imler’s blood alcohol concentration was .18 which is over the limit of .08 in which a driver is considered intoxicated in Indiana.

Imler was also issued citations for speeding and operating a motor vehicle with an open alcohol container.

Citizens are encouraged to report suspected impaired and dangerous drivers by calling 911. Give a location, vehicle description, and direction of travel. Never follow a suspected impaired driver.
