City Signs Two-Year Agreement for Arborwood to Run Frankfort Commons

The Frankfort Commons Golf Course has improved in almost every facet since Arborwood took the course over four years ago. And because of that, the City of Frankfort decided to offer a different contract this time around.

“We’re going to do a two-year contract,” said Frankfort Mayor Judy Sheets after the Board of Works meeting Monday night. “The contract is going to be the same. They’ve had done a great job out there and made many improvements.”

Sheets added Arborwood has made the golf course very beneficial for the community.

One of the big things for the City of Frankfort this summer will be the opening of the new Frankfort Aquatic Center, which is in the same spot as the old pool in TPA Park. Sheets talks about the contract they have with Aquatic Management company of Indianapolis.

“They will staff it,” said Sheets. “They said they have to have 13 people every time the pool is open. They said the Lazy River has blind spots, you have to have people at the top and at the bottom for the slides and they have a kiddie area, so they have to have so many people there.”

Sheets added they will be doing a lot more than that like furnishing all the chemicals, they get all the testing down to Indianapolis for the city along with the supplies.

Clinton County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Shan Sheridan gave update on the proposed Career Tech building to be built in Frankfort. Sheets was asked her thoughts on that.

“We need the workforce,” said Sheets. “We can train these people these people to go out to the Industrial Park and get jobs which is what is needed right now. While they are still in school, they can get dual credits as well.”

Sheets added this school will also be for adults.

Frankfort Street Superintendent and interim Parks Superintendent Jason Forsythe said they are targeting the end of May or the first of June for the annual spring cleanup.
