Five individuals from Clinton County qualified for the New Castle Semi-State wrestling meet on Saturday at 9 a.m. following their performances at the North Montgomery Regional on Saturday.
Kolt Keller of Clinton Central captured the championship at 285 by defeating Jonathan Williams of Carmel with a pen at 3:18 in the title match. Previously, Keller had defeated Luke Hall of North Montgomery with a pin in 2:56 and won by decision over Crae Kunkleman of Hamilton Southeastern 3-2 in the semis.
Elijah Anthony of Frankfort took second at 106. He defeated Richard Keesee of Zionsville by tech fall at 2:09 and P.J. Pritchettt of Fishers 17-7 before losing to Suhas Chundi of Carmel 7-2 in the championship match.
Ezekiel VanDeventer of Frankfort placed third at 182. He pinned Luke Davis of Zionsville in 3:02 before losing to J.D. Farrell of Fishers in 1:24. He came back to defeat Riley Woodall of Southmont 10-3 to capture third place.
Josue Bautista of Frankfort finished fourth at 113. He defeated Baydin Hall of North Montgomery 11-8 before losing to Dylan Driver of Westfield in 1:36 and to Brac Hooper of Carmel 5-0 in the third-place match.
Caiden Maish of Clinton Prairie took fourth at 195. He pinned Jud VanCleave of Southmont in 2:39 before losing to eventual champion Jack Heidt of Carmel in 2:39. He fell to Sam Medlen of Westfield in 2:27 for third place.
Others who competed in the regional were Juan Campos (120), Christian Matias (170) and Jack Bond (220), all of Frankfort, and Tallon Surber (132) of Clinton Central. Each wrestler lost their opening match.
