Clinton County Awards Service Grants for Not-for-Profit Organizations

The Clinton County Commissioners and Councilors have awarded seven not-for-profits with $107,500 in support for 2023.

“The County is proud to be able to support many of our not-for-profit organizations,” says Jordan Brewer, President of the Clinton County Commissioners. “While we could not fund all organizations or always fund to the amount requested, we do believe these grants will have a great impact on Clinton County residents.”

The grant program is intended to furnish funding to organizations that provide services in furtherance of County goals. The largest grant, $35,000, was awarded to The Crossing School of Business & Entrepreneurship to help provide struggling students an education, job training, and faith-based character education. The Healthy Communities of Clinton County Coalition, an agency that provides programs and services to prevent teen pregnancy, treat substance use disorder and mental health, and provide health insurance, received $20,000. And $15,000 was approved to fund the Paul Phillippe Resource Center’s community transportation program. A complete list of recipients is below.

The money used to fund the Community Service Grants is generated by tipping fees at the Walnut Creek Landfill. Every ton of waste dumped at the landfill is charged $2.00 payable to the County. County Commissioners then decide which projects to support based on perceived need and available funding.

“The County Council and County Commissioners are proud to support these community not-for-profit partners in a meaningful way,” Alan Dunn, County Council President says. “We are fortunate that we have these professionally run organizations serving our citizens in need.”

Grant applications for not-for-profit funding in 2024 will be available in the fall in the Commissioners’ Office at the County Courthouse and will be due by January 1.
