The Clinton County Community Foundation has awarded more than $87,500 in competitive grants during the first half of 2021.
“These grants follow the wishes of our donors by supporting Clinton County,” said Alicia Albertson, chair of the Clinton County Community Foundation Services Committee. “We thank them for having the foresight to anticipate that community needs should be supported now and in the future through endowed funds. Since our beginning in 1996, donor generosity has enabled the Foundation to grant approximately $11.3 million to nonprofits during its 25-year history. As we look ahead to the next 25 years, the Foundation will continue its charitable mission to help our communities.”
The following agencies and programs were awarded grants during the first half of 2021:
- $1,000 to COACH Kids of Clinton County provides support for a pilot program centered around preparing students for college or careers through mentoring and education.
- $23,000 to Center Township of Clinton County supports a new pre-kindergarten classroom in Clinton County. The funds will be used to provide technology and instructional materials for one classroom, allowing more children in Clinton County to attend pre-kindergarten.
- $3,000 to Ellie’s Retreat House provides support for improving the handicap accessibility of the retreat center.
- $4,875 to the Friends of the Frankfort Public Library will be used to establish a Dolly Parton Imagination Library (DPIL) in Clinton County. The DPIL partners with communities to provide a specially selected, age-appropriate, high-quality book each month to children from birth to age five.
- $727 to the Humane Society of Clinton County will be used to purchase a portable public address system for use at dog training classes and fundraisers.
- $1,730 to The Learning Network, in association with Purdue Extension in Clinton County, will be used to assist immigrant families in Clinton County who are struggling financially due to COVID-19.
- $3,415 to The Learning Network supports the Technology Today program. This program provides digital literacy skills to English as a second language residents in Clinton County.
- $10,000 to Michigantown Lions Club will be used to install multipurpose flooring at the Wilbur T. Rule Historic Gym.
- $25,292 to One80 Recovery Resources provided matching funds towards the Farmers Bank challenge grant to support the construction of a 16-bed recovery residence for men suffering from substance use disorder.
- $1,000 to Project Life Saver of Clinton County will help to purchase transponder bracelets that will alert a family member when a client wanders from their home.
- $1,000 to the Salvation Army Service Unit of Clinton County provides funding support for the purchase of three heavy-duty steel carts for loading and hauling food donations to the food pantry.
