The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 8 p.m. this (Sunday) evening for 32 counties in Indiana, including Clinton County.
Besides Clinton, the other affected counties are Boone, Brown, Carroll, Clay, Daviess, Delaware, Fountain, Greene, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Henry, Howard, Johnson, Knox, Madison, Marion, Monroe, Montgomery, Morgan, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Randolph, Rush, Shelby, Sullivan, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Vermillion and Vigo.
This watch also includes the cities of Frankfort, Delphi, Flora, Williamsport, West Lebanon, Lafayette, West Lafayette, Kokomo, Attica, Covington, Veedersburg, Crawfordsville, Lebanon, Zionsville, Tipton, Fishers, Carmel, Noblesville, Anderson, Muncie, Winchester, Clinton, Newport, Rockville, Greencastle, Plainfield, Brownsburg, Danville, Indianapolis, Greenfield, Cumberland, New Castle, Terre Haute, Brazil, Clay City, Spencer, Martinsville, Mooresville, Greenwood, Franklin, Shelbyville, Rushville, Sullivan, Linton, Bloomfield, Bloomington, Nashville, Columbus, Greensburg, Vincennes, Washington, Washington, Loogootee, Shoals, Bedford, Mitchell, Seymour, Brownstown and North Vernon.
Thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and tonight. An isolated severe storm cannot be ruled out. The main hazards are lightning, heavy rain and gusty winds. A lingering warm frontal boundary combined with upper level support may allow traditional showers and thunderstorms to redevelop today and this evening across Central Indiana.
There will be periodic chances for thunderstorms through the middle of next week for parts of central Indiana. Hot and humid will continue through Wednesday with heat indices peaking in the mid to upper 90s in the afternoons.
