Closures Now in Effect on State Road 26

The Indiana Department of Transportation announces additional closures on State Road 26 for a major road reconstruction and widening project. S.R. 26 is now closed between S.R. 75 (three-miles east of Rossville) and N. County Road 1000 E. (two-miles west of Russiaville).  Crews will also be making drainage improvements. This segment of S.R. 26 is expected to reopen after early November, weather permitting.

The updated, official detour follows U.S. 421 to S.R. 28 to U.S. 31 and back.

This contract was awarded to Rieth Riley Construction for over $27.2 million. It involves almost 15-miles of road reconstruction work along S.R. 26, from approximately 0.02 miles east of Rossville to approximately 4.5 miles east of S.R. 29. This project also involves drainage improvements along this stretch of S.R. 26. Construction will be phased, meaning there will be additional closures on S.R. 26 connected to this project. INDOT will provide updates and adequate notice of closures and/or restrictions as the project progresses.
