The Clinton County Civic Theatre will be holding auditions for the first show of their 30th season on Sunday, August 19, at 7 p.m. in the Skanta Theatre at the Frankfort Community Public Library. The show ‘The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society Murder Mystery’ by Walter Zerlin Jr. and David McGillivray has parts for one man and four women and will be directed by Lea Viney. Show dates are October 25-28.

 

Kirklin Christian Church Fish Fry will be held on Saturday, August 25, from 4-7 p.m. at the church located at 302 E. Jefferson St., Kirklin or two blocks east of U.S. 421 on State Road 38. This is an all-you-can-eat fish along with delicious homemade pies and other desserts with proceeds going to benefit the Evan Faucett Family and the Jaden Quick Family. Tickets are $9 for adults, children age 6-10 are $4 and children under 6 are free.

 

The American Red Cross is hosting two blood drives later this month in Frankfort. They will be held on Saturday, August 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the St. Vincent Medical Group located at 1201 Oak Street, and the other will be on Tuesday, August 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ivy Tech Community College at 251 E. The Clinton Prairie Class of 1974 will be holding a reunion on Saturday, October 6, at The Trails in Lafayette. Doors open at 5 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m. Cost is $30 a person. Also, we would love for any former teachers or administrators to attend. Hoping for a big turnout since it’s been 34 yrs since our last reunion.

 

The Paul Philippe Resource Center has announced its schedule of events for August: Thursday, August 16 — ‘The Shack’, leave at 8:30 a.m., lunch OYO; Wednesday, August 29 — Myers Dinner Theatre Matinee, leave at 10 a.m., must pre-pay $45 no later than August 21. The Frankfort Parks Department has announced its Summer Movie schedule dates. They are: “Despicable Me 3” on Friday, August 24; and “Paddington 2” on Friday, September 14. For more information, call 659-3422.

 

The Jobs for Life Initiative is now accepting applications for Jobs for Life students. Classes begin Tuesday, September 18, at 6:30 p.m. at the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 352 West Clinton Street. Classes will continue each Tuesday and Thursday nights through November 8. Applications can be picked up at the Clinton County Chamber of Commerce at 62 North Main Street or the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church. There is no charge to students for attending classes. The Kokomo High School Class of 2008 10-Year Reunion will be held Saturday, August 25, from 6-9 p.m. at Kelley Agricultural Museum in Sharpsville. There will be food and drinks, music and catching up with old friends. Tickets are $25 per person and $40 for a pair. Individuals are asked to buy tickets in advance to help estimate number for catering purposes. Also, this event is adults only.

 

The Clinton County Health Department in partnership with Healthy Communities of Clinton County are hosting a free Naloxone (Narcan) Kit Training and Distribution for Lay Responders on Tuesday, September 4, at 6 p.m. at the Colfax Fire Department, 103 Main St., Colfax. The 2018 Clinton County Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing will be held Thursday, September 6, at the Frankfort Commons Golf Course. There will be a hog roast by Shoup’s Country Foods. There are many unique sponsorship opportunities available from $75 and up, golfers are $95 and include cart, breakfast, snacks and lunch. For more information, call 654-5507.

 

The Paw Prints 4-H Dog Club, along with their sponsors Arni’s and Cintas, cordially invite you to Arni’s After Dark at the Clinton County Fairgrounds promptly at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, September 10. This is a Gatsby Themed Murder Mystery Dinner. The cost is $250 for a table of four or $65 per person will include  a five-course gourmet meal, Gatsby Themed selfie station, door prizes, silent auction (cash or check only) and many surprises throughout the evening. Cornerstone Assembly of God located at 5641 W. Mulberry/Jefferson Rd.,Frankfort, is having a Hog Roast & Car Show on Saturday, September 22, from 4-6 p.m. Car registration starts at 2 p.m. Show registration fee is $10. Early registration fee is $8. Swap meet fee is $15. Awards to be presented at 5 p.m. Free meal for each driver entered (guest is $5 each). The End of Summer Car Show will be held at Faith Family Church on Saturday, September 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This will feature an escorted cruise to the Cornerstone Church Hog Roast & Car Show. More information is available at faithroots.org or fund them on Facebook.
