Thursday Thunder is back around Veteran’s Park in downtown Frankfort from 5:30-8 p.m. Lots of great events are being planned for 2019. Thursday Thunder is held the first and third Thursday of each month through September with the exception of Thursday, July 4. Live music will be held on the third Thursday.

Rossville First Financial Bank at 358 W. Main St., Rossville, is having an American Red Cross Blood Drive event on Wednesday, May 8, from noon to 5 p.m. Local residents are invited to give blood in the effort to help save lives. The local blood center will be onsite at the banking center and accepting donations from noon to 5 p.m. Individuals giving blood are asked to bring the names of medications you are taking. Frankfort Camp Ministries is having a Oh Happy Days Ladies Retreat in Frankfort on Friday, May 10, and Saturday, May 11. Friday’s session begins at 5:30 p.m. with registration and Saturday’s session starts at 8 a.m. For reservations, call 765-357-4414.

 

The Iron Block Building in downtown Frankfort will be having a grand opening on Friday, May 10, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be food and drinks and tours and engagement will be open to the public. For more information, call the Clinton County Chamber of Commerce at 654-5507.

 

First Evangelical Presbyterian Church at 352 W. Clinton St., Frankfort is having an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday, May 16, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Those who want to give blood can visit RedCrossBlood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to make an appointment.

 

The No Frills Theatre presents a Robert Bryan original play, “Community Theatre” on Friday, May 10, and Saturday, May 11, at Ivy Tech Community College, 425 W. Main St., Peru. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Showtimes at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free. Rated PG-13 for innuendo and mild language.

 

The Stepping on Stigma 5K Run/Walk is set for Saturday, May 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Clinton County Fairgrounds. There will be free family activities, prizes, food and participate in the 5K. The Vesta Masonic Lodge No. 136, F. & A.M. on Old State Road 28 in Jefferson, is having an All-U-Can-Eat Breakfast on Saturday, May 11, from 7-10 a.m. Menu will consist of biscuits, gravy, pancakes, sausage and scrambled eggs. Tickets are $8 for adults, children 6-12 are $4 and kids under 5 are free.

 

The Send Silence Packing exhibit will be at the Clinton County Fairgrounds on Tuesday, May 14, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. This exhibit has traveled the country for more than a decade to end the silence that surrounds mental health and suicide and connect visitors with resources for support and action. A Benefit for Rob Bales, the Frankfort Police officer with ALS, will be held Friday, May 17, at the Frankfort American Legion. The Jason Wells Band will be the entertainment for the night.

 

Paw Pals is having its 19th Annual Wag-a-Thon to benefit the Humane Society on Saturday, May 18, at the Humane Society of Clinton County. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. Pet contests begin at 10:45 a.m. and prizes are given at 11:15 a.m.

 

The Frankfort Optimist Club along with F.U.N. (Frankfort’s Unified Neighborhoods) invites everyone to the Family Fishing Derby at the Frankfort Lagoons on Saturday, May 18. Fishing will be 9 a.m. to noon. Awards will be given for the biggest fish and a free lunch will immediately follow. All ages are welcome and no fishing licenses are required.

 

This Old Farm is hosting an event on Saturday, May 18, to celebrate local farm and artisan partners. Activities begin at 2 p.m. with old fashion lawn games, cash bar and live music followed by keep it local and stay home with Adam, Lucas and Travis at 3 p.m. with a four-course meal with a complimentary drink ticket at 5 p.m. Cost is $60 for adults and $30 for children 12-and-under. Summer Place, a real 50’s town, is having its 17th Annual Car Show on Saturday, May 25. The proceeds benefit “A Home for Every Child Foundation”. Top 20 trophies will be awarded. All car show participants will be entered into a cash drawing and three lucky winners will win $200, $100 and $50. Dash plaques given to the first 200 car entries. Registration for the Bales Strong 5K Fun Run is now open. The event, sponsored by the Frankfort Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, will be held Saturday, July 13. Registration starts at 7 a.m, and race begins at 8 a.m. Registration fee is $30. All proceeds for this 5K Fun Run/Walk will be donated to Officer Rob Bales.
