The Board of Works officially approved changes in dates for awarding bids on the new Frankfort Police station Wednesday which also means a delay when the project will be completed.
“We’re going to have make some changes as to the dates that we’re going to receive the bids and also when that is going to be awarded for the police station,” said Frankfort Mayor Judy Sheets. “This has to do with being able to get the materials, the cost of materials.”
Sheets said the problem is not being able to get the steel needed for the project.
“We’re going to have bids in by June 17 at 2 p.m.,” she said. “We’ll have a special meeting in the Council Chambers at Old Stoney. Then on the regular Board of Works meeting on the 28th of June is when we will award the bids.
“This is going to put a delay in the completion date,” she continued. “We thought it was going to be in November of 2022. We’re moving it to April of 2023. It’s just one of these things we have to do.”
