County Youth Getting Fit In Some Crossfit Classes

Crossfit Solar Flare is a special place for our community. It’s a place where friends turn into family.

Owner and head coach Key Taulbee has built an amazing gym for our small community. They have recently branched out to having kids Crossfit.

Tara Woods is the kids coach and is currently running a five week class to see the interest and it has been overwhelming said Woods. “We’ve had 44 Clinton County youth participate. It has been amazing to see everyone come together to ensure our kids program is successful, It has been an amazing team effort for sure”.

Crossfit’s first fitness model focused on the 10 recognized general physical skills. They include:

➡️Cardiovascular/respiratory endurance
➡️Stamina
➡️Strength
➡️Flexibility
➡️Power
➡️Speed
➡️Coordination
➡️Agility
➡️Balance
➡️Accuracy

You may automatically assume things like strength and endurance are components of a fitness program, but what about some of those others? Balance, accuracy, and coordination are skills we just assume kids develop in their daily routines, but a growing number of kids are in occupational therapy and physical therapy during their school day to work on these very things.

When these general skills are developed in a child, their ability to succeed in daily tasks grows exponentially. This is the perfect opportunity for these kids to experience a program that focuses on their health in all areas, and have FUN while doing it.
