Evetta Jane “Eve” Corbin

Evetta Jane “Eve” Corbin, 91, of Frankfort, departed this life on May 5, 2021. She was born December 26, 1929 to Fred C. and Lois (Mason) Smith in Mackinaw, IL, where she resided with her parents and brother until her father’s death in 1933.   She then moved with her mother and brother to her maternal grandparent’s farm in Mapleton, IL.  She was a true farm girl thriving on her grandparent’s dairy farm.  The barn was her playground providing hours of entertainment and “kitten” playtime.

At the outbreak of WWII, she and her mother moved to Indianapolis, where she graduated from Broad Ripple High School.  Upon graduation, she attended Butler University where she met her beloved husband, Ted.  They married in 1948 and enjoyed a loving, happy marriage that lasted 69 years.  In 1952, they welcomed a son, David, and in 1955 a daughter, Debra, joined the family.

Eve was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her.  Her warmth and kindness drew people to her.  She was active in PTA, serving as president for one year.  Eve was a generous volunteer serving the community through Stansfield Circle.  Her children’s activities kept her busy with Scouts, Little League, hockey, and Keen Kutters.

Once her children were grown, she and Ted purchased several independent insurance agencies in Hamilton County and embarked on a “second” career as an insurance agent.  She and Ted moved to Noblesville and made many new friends in their new “hometown”.

She and Ted were avid golfers and enjoyed playing at courses all around the country.  They belonged to a Friday night golf group and spent many enjoyable years playing with a wide group of friends.  Eve played regularly in the Ladies group at Woodland Country Club and Harbour Trees Country Club.

After she retired, she continued volunteering.  She was a “pink” lady at Riverview Hospital, a volunteer at Conner Prairie, and a church volunteer for First United Methodist Church in Noblesville.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ted, her parents, and brother, Paul.  She is survived by her children; David Corbin and Debra Fox (son-in-law, Lewis Fox); and grandchildren, Nathan Corbin, Kea Corbin, Megan Gillespie, and Mason Gillespie.

Due to COVID19, no services are planned at this time.  A celebration of life will be held at a future date.  Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort is entrusted with the arrangements.
