Fire and Ice Festival Photos and Videos

The first year for the Frankfort Fire and Ice Festival was 2016. Dr. Jill Snyder DDS started the festival six years ago. The Fire and Ice Festival in downtown Frankfort has evolved into a successful annual event thanks to the planning and leadership of the Frankfort Jaycees.

”It is a great way to have the downtown come to life” said Snyder. “I think it is great the Jaycees continued with the Festival. The fireworks (this year) was a great way to tie in the Fire and Ice theme.”

Frankfort Jaycee President Joel Tatum was pleased with the festival this year. “It went Awesome” Tatum said. “I was pleased with the number of people who turned out for the event. I think people were ready to get out of their house and it was a Covid-friendly event.”

This year class C fireworks were launched from the Prairie Creek Park. Seven sculptors from the Michiana Ice Carving Guild completed 28 sculptures in about 10 hours. The sculptors carved a butterfly, a sword in the stone complete with drilled out flower designs filled with white snow, praying hands, a simi-truck, paired hearts, a cancer ribbon display, graduation cap promoting a scholarship program, American flag and even a carved couch in front of Lehnen’s Furniture store could be found.

Erick Dircks and Anna Emery devoted their weekend to taking pictures and producing videos so you can enjoy the ice sculptures long after the carvings are reduced to puddles and evaporate. Enjoy!

One of the business owners who participated in the Fire and Ice Festival, Carolyn Ellis of Ellis Jewelers, said “I think it was absolutely awesome! I think it was wonderful all these people (Jaycees and others) donate their time. Everyone should really come up and see them! This is a good thing for our town.”
