The Indiana Department of Health established a color code for Indiana, giving a visual representation of COVID-19 metrics on a county-by-county basis. The highest or worst level is Red. Red means county has a very high positivity and community spread rate.
The local health department recently posted this message on their Facebook page. “Clinton County will be moving to RED on the State Color Metrics map and this further restricts the size of any public or private gatherings to 25 or less, no exceptions.”
Regardless of a county’s color code, face coverings are required for all Hoosiers. Businesses of all types are required to place clearly visible signs at their public and employee entrances notifying all that face coverings are required.
The rate of newly reported deaths has continued its exponential climb in the last several weeks. Indiana averaged 11 deaths per day in September, 24 in October, growing to 51 in November. The state has averaged more than 60 deaths per day for the last two weeks.
At this time the following restrictions will go into place at all Frankfort Community Public Library locations –
100% face coverings will be required. The mask must cover both your mouth and nose the entire time you are in the library. There will be no medical or other exceptions. If you cannot or will not wear a mask you will be asked to leave the building. You are encouraged to use alternate library services such as curbside service or digital access. Based on guidance from the Center for Disease Control children two or under are not required to wear a mask.
There will be no public meetings held at the library at this time. Any exceptions to this will need to be submitted to the Library Director. These will be reviewed on a case by case basis, but in no situation will over 25 people be allowed to gather.
Computer use at the library will now be limited to one hour per person per day.
Restrictions and limitations are hard but as we work to protect the staff and our community members we will get through this.
During this time we strongly encourage our patrons to consider using Curbside Service of the library. Call ahead to request materials, and then staff will contact you when your order is ready to be picked up. We even have contact-free pickup!
When our county is in the Red advisory metric, these requirements will remain in effect until the metric has returned to Orange or lower for two weeks. We will monitor this and evaluate what we believe is best for the community.
