Frankfort Native Commemorating Ball State’s History in Centennial Documentary

Michael Harris, who received his bachelors degree in 2016 and his masters in 2018 from Ball State University and is a native of Frankfort, Indiana, helped commemorate the university’s storied history through the Centennial documentary, “From Normal to Extraordinary: Ball State’s First Century.”

Harris worked with a team of 41 students led by Christopher Flook, telecommunications lecturer and faculty adviser for the immersive learning project. Their documentary debuts Sept. 6 at the university’s Centennial kickoff event.

The Centennial documentary has been in production since the summer of 2017, when research and script writing began. The documentary includes interviews with historians, past presidents and notable alumni. Harris had a hands-on role in the production of the documentary.

“I worked as the director of photography for the documentary,” Harris said. “Through shooting the interviews of faculty, alumni, staff and students, I have found a deeper appreciation for the rich history of Ball State and Muncie.”

The documentary and kickoff event are just two of efforts to celebrate the University’s proud past and bright future. To learn more about Ball State’s Centennial, visit https://www.bsu.edu/100.
