On Tuesday, following an intense investigation, Frankfort Police Narcotics Detectives located and arrested 45-year-old Robert J. Maldonado of Frankfort for felony drug charges and resisting arrest.
According to Police Chief Troy Bacon, “During their investigation, Narcotics Detectives received information that Maldonado, the prime suspect under investigation, was walking near the intersection of Barner and Columbia Street. As narcotics detectives and patrol officers entered the area and attempted to apprehend Maldonado, he fled on foot. After a short foot chase, he was captured and placed under arrest”.
While Maldonado was fleeing from the police, he threw four clear plastic baggies on the ground. These items were collected by officers. The substance in the bags was field-tested and preliminarily determined to be methamphetamine. Robert J. Maldonado was arrested for Dealing Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Resisting Arrest.
“I am very proud of the efforts of our Narcotics Detectives and everyone involved in this investigation and subsequent arrest. We will continue to direct resources and personnel towards investigating and arresting individuals who bring drugs into our community,” said Bacon.
After being transported to the Clinton County Jail, a transparent plastic baggie was located on Maldonado’s person. This baggie containing a substance later field-tested and preliminarily determined to be methamphetamine. Maldonado awaits formal charges.
Clinton County Sheriff’s Department K9 unit assisted.
