Frankfort Preparing For Hot Dog Festival

 

The set up is taking shape in downtown Frankfort for this weekends Hot Dog Festival. Be sure to take advantage of the many events happening and visit with WILO & shine 99 live remote (Main Street) and radio personalities.

Hot Dog Festival – July 30 – August 1, 2021

10:30 am – Senior Talent Show

Check in (Witham Stage at Veteran’s Park) registration table by sound booth for ages 55 and older.

11:00 am – Opening Kickoff

(Witham Stage at Veteran’s Park) please join us as we kickoff our 26th Annual Frankfort Hot Dog Festival with a flag ceremony by the VFW and the National Anthem.

Official Hot Dog Festival Tent by Shoup’s Country Foods opens (Main & Washington) Back by popular demand the “Shoup Dog” and fixin’s.

Senior Talent Show

(Witham Stage at Veteran’s Park) this is a fun, entertaining experience for both contestants and festival guests. Contestants showcase just how exciting life is after 55! Come out and show us what you’ve got!

Frankfort’s Got Talent Show

(Witham Stage at Veterans Park) Vocal, Instrumental, Theater, Drama, Dance or Open Class.

2:00 pm – Seth Mulder & Midnight Run – (Witham Stage at Veterans’ Park ) These masters of ’50s and ’60s throwback bluegrass have also recently
signed with Mountain Fever Records. Seth and the boys got their start performing in Gatlinburg, TN at the Ole Smoky Moonshine. Distillery where they still appear when they aren’t on the road, keeping the band extra tight. All are college educated grassers, with a special love for the traditional sound applied to original music written within the group. Mulder plays mandolin with Colton Powers on banjo, Ben Wattlington on guitar, and Max Etling on bass.

Ultimate Air Dogs Dock Diving (Columbia) check in & practice – How does an event work? What is a Splash, Catch It, Fetch-It, or Chase-It? Ultimate Air (Distance jumping) is the main feature of our events. Dogs run down a dock and fly into a pool – the distance is judged from the end of the dock nearest the waters’ edge, to the base of the dog’s tail. It is showcased in different rounds called “SPLASHES”. At a typical event, we usually host
anywhere from 2 to 15 Splashes – culminating at the end of the event with our Divisional Finals.

3:00 pm – Ultimate Air Dogs Dock Diving – SPLASH 1 (Columbia) Within each Splash, dog-handler teams get 2 jumps. Ultimate Air Dogs runs a format unique to other Dock Jumping organizations where dogs jump back-to-back in our Splashes. This means no extra fatigue for you or your dog from standing and waiting in line until your next jump. Once you’ve made your 2 jumps, you may exit the pool area and go praise your dog for the awesome sportsmanship!!! The best score of those two jumps is then recorded for the Bubble. What is the Bubble? The Bubble holds the key to the Finals. It breaks down the dogs into our predetermined divisions, allowing teams to track their progress throughout the event.

4:00 pm Bluegrass workshop with Seth Mulder & Midnight Run – (Witham Stage at Veterans’ Park) grab your mandolin, banjo or guitar and join in on the fun. Learn all about Bluegrass.

5:00 pm – Ma Bell – (Witham Stage) – The birth of Ma Bell is an example of never losing sight of your dreams. This elderly fun loving soul performs,
sings and dances right into your heart. You will love and appreciate the humor of Ma’s first song “Fishing Blues”.

6:30 pm – The Renegades Band – (PCP STAGE) Southern Outlaw Country Rock and Roll Party Show. Amazing harmonies, and Musicians burning up the stage! This band has been playing for the last 17 years for hundreds, even thousands of dedicated fans. A high impact show you don’t want to miss.

8:30 pm – The Indigos – (Veterans’ Park) Originally from Muncie and now based in Indianapolis, The Indigos are a high energy funk-rock band featuring multiple vocalists, horn players, shredding guitars, a rock-solid rhythm section and a keytar. They use the term “Indigroove” to describe their style, a blend of groovy roots mashed with a range of rock influences.

9:00 pm – Heart to HeartBreaker – THE HEART/ PAT BENATAR EXPERIENCE (Witham Main Stage) Primarily featuring the music of Heart & Pat
Benatar, Heart to HeartBreaker captures the sights and sounds of women that changed the Rock & Roll status quo!

Art & Book Sale (W Clinton) Frankfort Public Library Book Sale – 9 am – 5 pm Open-Air Artists Market – (W Clinton) Frankfort Public Library.

9:30 am – Over the Top Tours Street Vault (W Washington) in downtown Frankfort, IN, and a stop on the Over-the-Top Tour as a qualifier for the
Indiana State Fair Meet.

10:00 am – Q Skatepark Demos (Washington Street) Come see some of central Indiana’s most talented amateur skateboarders. Skaters will perform a number of different tricks on the ramps and flatground. Free swag will be distributed by skaters to spectators after each demo.

Doxie Derby Registration – (N Courthouse lawn) Dachshunds from all over will be competing to be the fastest doxie in Indiana! – no previous racing
experience necessary, all Dachshunds WELCOME! Registration from 10-11 am. Derby starts at 11.

10 am – 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament – (Washington Street) bring your game and possibly win some great prizes! Sponsored by the Clinton County YMCA and Clinton County Boys’ and Girls’ Club.

11:00 am – Gem City Band (Witham Stage at Veterans’ Park) – a group of local talented guys who can bring back the memories with music from the
50’s & 60’s, country and classic rock ‘n roll.

than watching cute doxies trying to figure out where the finish line is.

6th Annual Gem City Dog Fight RC Demolition Derby (Regions Lot) Russell’s RC Derby Barn will host a Remote Control Demolition Derby Family Fun Zone (Regions Lot) Climbing wall, rockets & cars, turtles & tubs, obstacle course, slides and bounce houses.

3:30 pm – Cody Ikerd & The Sidewinders – (Witham Stage at Veterans’ Park) a country music band from Southern Indiana who have been performing all over the Midwest for the past five years, opening for several national artists such as Kid Rock, Hank Williams Jr., Kentucky Headhunters, Drake White, Mo Pitney, Casey Donahew and more. Along with original music, Cody performs everything from Hank Williams Jr. to Tyler Childers and puts on a country music show that people can’t get enough of!

4:00 pm – RC Trio Live – (The Farmers’ Bank Performance Center Stage) RC Trio is a small Jazz Fusion ensemble led by Frankfort composer, producer, musician Rodrigo Cotelo. Founded in 2019 to support Creekside music activities and live events. The trio is a canvas for expanding on
improvisational music. Rodrigo Cotelo presents “RC Trio Live” a night of live music featuring original compositions of its founder Rodrigo Cotelo as well as arrangements and versions of other Jazz Fusion composers. The trio can morph from Bluesy and Jam Band like, to climatic and mind-bending. Members RC Trio features Chris Parker- Drums, Connor Allen- Bass, and Rodrigo CoteloGuitars.

5:00 pm – Ultimate Air Dogs Dock Diving – check in for finals (W Clinton) must be checked in to be considered for finals!

Hot Dog Eating Contest – check in (Veterans’ Park Stage)

5:30 pm – Hot Dog Eating Contest (Witham Stage at Veterans’ Park) Contestants will compete in the 3rd Annual Hot Dog Eating Contest sponsored in part by NHK Seating. Grand prize is $500 to the contestant who eats the most hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes. Will the winner have what it takes to become a challenger for world record holder Joey Chestnut. Chestnut holds the record for eating 75 hot dogs in 10 minutes in 2020.

6:00 pm – Hot Dog Hall of Fame (PCP) – The Frankfort Hot Dogs Alumni Hall of Fame, created in 2018, recognizes graduates and honorary Hot Dogs of Frankfort High School who have achieved extraordinary lifetime accomplishments.

Clinton County Sheriff & Frankfort Police Department K9 Demonstrations (N Courthouse lawn) come out and watch our K9 officers in action.

6:00 pm Ultimate Air Dogs Dock Diving FINALS (Columbia) don’t miss the finals for this second-year event. Come out and support our local athletes and trainers for all their hard work.

6:30 pm – Ballet Folklorico Mosaicos – (Witham Stage at Veterans’ Park) Folkloric dance, like its equivalent English term folk dance, means “dances
of the people.” The dances reflect the traditions, customs, legends, beliefs and lifestyles of people in particular countries and regions. Folkloric dance expresses the life and spirit of a people through its movement and music. It is both historical and current, preserving tradition yet moving with the
present times Latino/Hispanic music and dance.

Hunter Wainscott & the Vagabonds (The Farmers Bank Performance Center Stage) Born and raised in rural Indiana, Hunter Wainscott has been playing music and writing songs since he was 7 years old. After making the step to become a full-time musician in early 2019, Hunter and his band have played across the Midwest and South, connecting with audiences everywhere through music that reflects the everyday life, struggles, and love
experienced by everyday people. Hunter Wainscott & the Vagabonds continue to headline festivals throughout the Midwest and perform original

8:30 pm – The Avalons (Witham stage at Veterans’ Park) 50’s & 60’s Rock & Roll Oldies Comedy Show based out of Dayton, Ohio. Proudly named 2018 “Entertainer of the Year” by the Dayton, Ohio Awards Program, Having performed for over 30 years and in front of millions of people, The Avalons are a professional touring group performing the greatest sounds of the 50’s & 60’s and early 70’s, along with high energy choreography, audience participation, costumes, and comedy. Having shared the stage with many famous groups such as The Beach Boys, The Temptations, The
Four Tops, and Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, The Avalons are a jammed packed family fun show for all ages.

9:00 pm – Creedence Revived (PCP Witham Stage) – Creedence Revived has rapidly become one of the most highly sought after tribute bands in the world. Playing all over the globe for crowds upwards of 30,000, and with a track-record of selling out shows everywhere they go, this group is the real deal. The group is made up of four of Chicago’s & LA’s most talented and eclectic musicians – consisting of an award winning vocalist nicknamed “the
chameleon” in the industry for his unique ability to shift his vocal to match the style of any vocalist, a world-renowned blues guitarist who attracts blues fans from around the world, a studio bassist who has a appeared on many top charting albums, and a drummer who sells out theaters on his own based solely on his unique playing style.
