Three third-grade students at the Community Schools of Frankfort were recently recognized by the Indiana Department of Education for their outstanding performance in mathematics, as a result of this year’s state-mandated ILEARN assessment.
Penelope Baker (Suncrest Elementary), Mateo Barrera Campos (Green Meadows Intermediate), and Leo Alarcon-Martinez (Green Meadows Intermediate) scored within the top 2 percent of third grade students in math across Indiana, based on their ILEARN assessment data. This achievement has earned them the opportunity to apply for the National Math Stars program.
This recognition is part of a statewide effort led by the Indiana Department of Education in partnership with National Math Stars, a nonprofit organization focused on supporting students with strong potential in mathematics. Students are identified based on ILEARN test scores and invited to apply for additional opportunities.
National Math Stars provides selected students with long-term academic support, including help accessing advanced math coursework, enrichment experiences, and guidance for families. Students can also connect with their peers nationwide who share similar academic interests.
Each student received a nomination packet that includes an award medal, a letter of recognition, and application information for the students’ families. Applications are due in June, with selected students to be announced later this summer.
The Community Schools of Frankfort is proud to congratulate these three students on this recognition and their high achievement on the ILEARN math assessment.
