Frankfort Track Teams Qualify Three Individuals for Regional Competition

Two Frankfort High School boys track members qualified for regionals at the sectional meet held last week.

Sam Michael qualified with his third place finish in 100 while Logann Wills qualified in the long jump and high jump by placing third in each event.

Other point scorers included Angel Perez, fourth in the 1,600, Josue Bautista Ventura, sixth in the 3,200, Edwin Wainscott, sixth in the pole vault, Michael Hernandez Cuatecatl eighth in the 300 hurdles and the 4×100 relay of Wills, Andrix Mullinax, Jakob Burns and Michael took fifth.

As a team, the Hot Dogs finished sixth.

Garcia Qualifies For Sectional

Frankfort’s Kenya Garcia qualified for the regionals by placing third in the discus in the sectionals last week at Harrison High School.

As a team, the girls placed eighth. Point scorers include Carina Alanis, seventh in the 3,200, Payton Dubree, sixth in the pole vault, Mia Hernandez, eighth in the pole vault, the 4×100 relay team of Maicee Sterrett, Hernandez, Dubree and Peyton Myers was sixth, and Garcia, sixth in the shot put and third in the discus.

Clinton Central Claims Hoosier Heartland Title

Clinton Central won its Hoosier Heartland Championship since 1992 by winning the HHC. The Bulldogs finished with a total of 396, 21 shots better than Clinton Prairie, Rossville was third at 418.

Junior Kyle Pickard shot a career-best 91 to finish tied for second individually. Seniors Mike Harness and Logan Whiteman finished seventh and ninth respectfully.

Delphi’s Cade Nelson took medalist honors with an 82, which was nine shots better than Logan McDonald of Clinton Prairie, who shot a 91.

FHS Golf Finishes Second

Frankfort hosted McCutcheon and West Lafayette in a triangular match at the Frankfort Commons with West Lafayette winning the match at 192. Frankfort was second at 205 and McCutcheon took third at 210.

Dakota Bailey led FHS with a 50 followed by Ramsey Mitchell 51, Reece Mitchell and Jesse Reed each had 52.

At the Sagamore Conference meet, Frankfort posted its best 18-hole score of 398 to place seventh at Rocky Ridge Golf Course. Reece Mitchell led FHS with a 93 followed by Bailey 94, Ramsey Michell 101 and Reed 115.

FHS Baseball Ends Regular Season

The baseball team wrapped up conference play with an exciting 5-4 win over Danville Friday at home. Kevin Lopez drove in the winning run with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh.

On Saturday, Frankfort split a twin bill at Hamilton Heights. In game one, Jose Lopez pitched a complete game in an 11-1 victory. In game two, Austin Penry pitched well allowing just one earned run over six innings in a 5-4 loss.

FHS Softball Tops Crawfordsville

Frankfort defeated Crawfordsville 10-1 as Autumn Bower pitched seven innings, allowing just one run and striking out four. Zoey Westerman had two hits, including a home run and a double. Bower also had two doubles. Karim Quinones and Kylie Wainscott each had a double, while Makayla Harper, Katie Roberts and Sydni Whitaker each had a hit.

The day before, Frankfort defeated Crawfordsville 13-4. Harper got the victory.

Frankfort had 15 hits in the game led Whitaker and Quinones each had three hits, while Hailey Cook, Westerman each had two hits.

FHS Girls’ Tennis

Frankfort finished fourth in the Hot Dog Invitational by losing 4-1 to Yorktown. Karely Santos got Frankfort’s only victory at number two singles.

Greencastle defeated Yorktown and Carroll to win the team title.

Frankfort also had a pair of 5-0 losses to Southmont and Zionsville.
