Governor Eric Holcomb will begin a two-day trip to Israel on Tuesday. The governor’s office says Holcomb is traveling at the invitation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Holcomb will visit the country today and Wednesday, and is expected to return to Indiana on Thursday. During his visit, the governor will also meet with Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi and other leaders.
“I stand in support of Israel and look forward to meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu to continue forging an even stronger Israel-Indiana bond,” Holcomb said in a news release. “We have a growing number of Hoosiers and Hoosier businesses that share strong cultural and economic ties with this country, so when I was invited, I did not hesitate to make this trip to meet in Israel during such an hour of need.”
This will not be Holcomb’s first trip to Israel as governor. In 2018, he led a delegation of public officials and business executives on an economic development trip, which included the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Israel Innovation Authority focused on agbiosciences, life sciences and cybersecurity.
Several Israel-based companies have established a presence in Indiana, including manufacturer Polyram Group and auto supplier Omen USA. Agriculture technology firm Taranis, which was founded in Israel, recently selected Westfield for its global headquarters.
