New moms in the last three months and those moms who are expecting were treated to a Community Baby Shower by Healthy Communities of Clinton County Coalition Thursday at St. Matthew Church in Frankfort.

“We have 15 vendors here which is a really good amount for the Baby Shower,” said Baby and Me Tobacco Free Program Coordinator Kathy Martin. “We have 30 moms that are RSVP. Our goal was to reach 30. So, we plan to exceed that goal which is great.”

The three-hour event featured two education breakout sessions on car seat safety and milestones for their children in addition to games, prizes, food and invaluable education from the vendors.

“It’s a lot about education and safety and making sure that people know they are supported,” said Martin. “A lot of these moms may not get this information other places. Healthy Communities is here no matter what to help them along their journey.”

Those groups who had informational displays at the Baby Shower were 1st Steps, ISDH “Moms Helpline”, Open Door Clinic, Frankfort Public Library, Quinton’s House, Matrix Life Care Center, Frankfort YMCA, Childcare Resource Network, Pregnancy Resource Center, Purdue Nutrition Education Program, Bauer Family Resources, Women Infant and Children (WIC), Antioch Church, Creekside OB/GYN and Family Services Assoc. of Howard County.

The event was sponsored by The Farmers Bank, Covering Kids and Families of Indiana and Pfizer. Those who supported the event was Schulz IGA, Walmart, Zachary, Frankfort Fire Department and Holden Pharmacy.
