An Indianapolis man was arrested following reports of an active armed robbery at a gas station early Monday morning in Kokomo that led to shots being fired, police say.
On Monday, May 6 just after 12 a.m., Kokomo Police Department officers reportedly responded to reports of an armed robbery in progress at the Qwik Stop located at 305 S. oo EW in Kokomo before dispatch notified the officers that the suspect shot at a female in the area and stole her vehicle, attempting to flee the scene.
Howard County Sheriff Deputies reportedly located the stolen vehicle only moments later while performing a felony traffic stop on U.S. 931 near Carter Street. The suspect was later identified as Savaughn Agnew, 23, of Indianapolis, and he was taken into custody without incident, authorities report.
Officers recovered a firearm that was reportedly discarded by Agnew within the vehicle, and the department released that no injuries were sustained by the victim as a result of the attempted shooting. Authorities stated that Agnew was transported to the Howard County Criminal Justice Center on preliminary charges of attempted murder, robbery, attempted kidnapping and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.
