Ivy Tech Community College, Region 4 Workforce Board Partner to Serve the Unemployed and Underemployed

Ivy Tech Community College Lafayette and Region 4 Workforce Board have partnered to serve the unemployed and underemployed through short-term certifications that will prepare Hoosier residents for jobs in advanced manufacturing as the economy begins to open up.

The free training is funded by a nearly $6 million USDOL America’s Promise Grant to provide training opportunities to qualified residents. Training begins on September 21 and is available to individuals who are unemployed or under-employed and looking to expand their skill sets.

According to Region 4 Workforce Board CEO, Roger Feldhaus. “The demand for skilled workers has never been greater and it has never been easier to access training.”

The free training is being provided by Ivy Tech Lafayette. Individuals will earn a MSSC Certified Production Technician Certification, OSHA 10-hour certification, and up to six Ivy Tech credits. The training which includes both online and hands-on elements, can be completed in four weeks with the support of an America’s Promise Grant Career Coach and an Ivy Tech facilitator. The hands-on training will take place in the advanced manufacturing lab of Griffin Hall located on the Ivy Tech Lafayette campus
