Kokomo Police to Honor Fallen Officers Memorial Day

The Kokomo Police Department shall commemorate Fallen Officers Memorial Day with a ceremony to honor those who have given the supreme sacrifice as law enforcement officers.

The ceremony shall be conducted Friday, May 14, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at City Hall in the Stephen J. Daily Government Center (Council Chambers).

The Kokomo Police Department shall pay homage to all officers with particular attention to Officer George A. Berryman and Officer Thomas W. Lannon.  Officer Berryman was killed in the line of duty on November 26, 1953 in response to the investigation of a domestic incident.  Officer Thomas W. Lannon died in the line of duty on August 22, 1877 when shot in the back at the train station by an individual whom he had previously arrested.

Masks are required for entry into the building, per Governor Holcomb’s Executive Order.

For those officers participating in the ceremony, please wear the Class A short-sleeved uniform.
