Lebanon Tigers Fall In Tennis Sectional; Three Players Proceed To Individual, Doubles Brackets

As the Lebanon Tigers tennis season comes to an end with a loss during the second round of Sectionals, three players will continue their spring season due to their victories in their respective slots.

The Tigers traveled to Crawfordsville High School on Wednesday night to face off against the Crawfordsville. The team saw successes and a few close calls during the matches that led to an overall score of 3 to 2 in favor of Crawfordsville.

The match saw #1 Tiger Singles Ava Lehmkuhler defeat Sam Rohr with a score of 6-2, 6-1 and #1 Tiger Doubles Bre Page and Kate Williams defeat Alayna Hall and Isla Sweare with a score of 6-3, 6-2. Crawfordsville gained the upper hand in #2 singles, #3 singles and #2 doubles to thwart the Tigers’ chances of advancing to the finals.

#2 Tiger Singles Bianca Coranado fell to Raegan Cox with a score of 0-6, 1-6, #3 Tiger Singles Lucie Cassis fell to Emily Weliver with a score of 6-3, 6-2 and #2 Tiger Doubles Anna Howard and Kinley Young almost clinched the gap against Amy Weliver and Emma Buser, falling slightly short with a score of 3-6, 3-6.

Although the Tigers were defeated to conclude the season and the sectional run for the team, Lehmkuhler, Page and Williams will continue to advance to the individual and doubles brackets in Sectional play set to begin next week on Tuesday night, May 21 at Lebanon High School as they did not drop a game against either team they faced in the Sectional team bracket. The schedule of play for Tuesday will be announced in the next few days as the finals of the Sectional team brackets kicks off tonight, Thursday, May 16.
