Main Street Releases Statement on Accident at Hot Dog Fest

A golf cart struck several concertgoers Saturday at the 25th Annual Frankfort Hot Dog Festival with minor injuries reported. The cart accidentally veered into a crowd of spectators waiting to enter the Prairie Creek Park Stage area. Upon initial investigation by Frankfort Main Street staff and volunteers, no intentional acts of malfeasance were committed at the time of the accident.

Frankfort Main Street, the organization responsible for hosting the Frankfort Hot Dog Festival, released the following statement:

“Frankfort Main Street strives to present an exceptional festival each year. Although we do our best to provide a safe environment for attendees, unforeseen incidents sometimes occur. Frankfort Main Street has begun an internal investigation into the incident and intends to thoroughly review its policies and procedures to ensure the continued safety of our attendees in the future. Frankfort Main Street cooperated completely with the Frankfort Police Department as they investigated this incident and will continue to fully cooperate during any future investigation.

We deeply regret that some concertgoers were injured during this incident. We continue to pray that these individuals heal from their injuries.

Frankfort Main Street is committed to providing a safe atmosphere for families to enjoy during our annual Frankfort Hot Dog Festival. We will work extremely hard during the upcoming year to continue to improve our safety protocols. We are exceedingly grateful for the assistance of the Frankfort Police Department and the Clinton County EMS, the Frankfort Fire Department, as well as other first responders who were on the scene during this incident.”

The Frankfort Hot Dog Festival concluded Sunday after a Community Worship Service.
