Marjorie Cornwell

Marjorie Lou Cornwell, age 84, of Woodland Hills, California passed away peacefully at West Hills Hospital on Monday, April 5, 2021.

She was born near Clarks Hill on July 8, 1936, to Fred Wesley Gochenour and Glee Ruby (Smith) Gochenour of Mulberry, Indiana.  She graduated from Rossville High School in 1954 and then attended the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated in 1957 as a Registered Nurse.  She married Jerry Joe Cornwell on December 29, 1957.

After graduating from Methodist School of Nursing, Marjorie worked at the Bloomington Indiana Hospital putting Jerry through Indiana University.  In 1964 she and Jerry moved out to the Los Angeles area where she lived until her death.  While in the Los Angeles area, Marge worked as a nurse in many area hospitals.  Several years after her retirement from nursing, Marge started volunteering at the West Hills Hospital near her home.  She loved working with the Sibling Tour classes for the new brothers and sisters to be.

She is survived by her children, Stephanie (Robert) Weller of Indianapolis and Michelle (Vito) Pace of Woodland Hills, CA; siblings, Wayne Gochenour of Zionsville, Nancy (Kenneth) Disinger of Rossville, and Patty Bright of Mulberry; grandchildren, Jason (Nora) Weller of Indianapolis, Christopher Weller of Culver City, CA, Marjorie Pace of Woodland Hills, CA, Miranda (James) Lau of West Hills, CA, and Bryan Wong of West Hills, CA.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Glee Gochenour; husband, Jerry; daughter, Angela; brothers, Dan, Jack, and Mack Gochenour; and sisters, Betty Moss, Audrey Ruch, and Mary Lowery.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation at 10 a.m. and the service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at the Rossville Methodist Church located in Rossville, Indiana.  Graveside service to follow at the Rossville Cemetery.  Genda Funeral Home in Rossville is entrusted with the arrangements.
