Peanuts Place Helps Those Who Are Really in Need

Nestled away on Main Street in Colfax is a place called Peanuts Place where people in need can go and get needed items.

“Peanuts Place was started in 2014 when Tina Emmel Schaffner and I opened the store to help families in the community,” said Linda Wann. “It was developed and thought of in ’14 when we both lost our husbands. Because of their similarities with Peanuts, that’s how we can up with the name.”

Peanuts Place is open just one day a week (Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.), but they have a number of ways to help those in need.

“It’s just a wonderful thing,” said Wann. “You can find the vouchers at the fire station and mostly the schools. I think the boys’ and girls’ clubs have some as does the ‘Y’. If you don’t have them, just give me a call.”

Wann said the store is a non-profit and families can come get and clothing, toys and so many things.

“It’s for needy families,” she said. “We serve a lot of families who have had a house fire. We give vouchers out to the schools and fire department.”

Wann also said all the things that are in Peanuts Place was donated.

“People in the community stop us all the time with free clothing and toys,” said Wann. “Normally around Christmas time, we give out free toys. We have a couple of churches that will do a tree for donation. We have a lot of families that come during the Christmas time.”
