One person was killed in a two-car accident on Morrison Street between Main and Columbia streets near downtown Frankfort early Tuesday afternoon.
Police say witnesses saw a car heading east on Morrison, exceeding the speed limit. The car hit a tree, a wall and another car that was heading west on Morrison before it flipped over and came to a rest in the street. Debris from the accident also allegedly struck a van parked in the area.
The driver of the car that was heading west had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to the hospital. The driver of the westbound vehicle later died of injuries sustained in the accident.
A reconstructionist has been called to the scene. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
