Ralph “Leon” Jordan, Jr.

Ralph “Leon” Jordan, Jr., 80, of Frankfort, passed away on August 13, 2024, at his family farm in Forest.  He was born May 15, 1944 on the family farm in Forest to Ralph and Helen (Leckrone) Jordan.  He graduated from Clinton Central High School in 1962 and then from Ball State University in 1966.  He was an Industrial Arts teacher and coach at Clinton Central from 1966-1975, while also farming with his parents. He retired from teaching to farm full-time in 1975.  He married Joyce Vandevender on July 20, 1974 at First Christian Church in Frankfort.

For many years he raced go-karts and a sprint car with his older brother Larry.  Leon, Larry, and their crew could be found working on carts and cars and traveling central Indiana to race.

Leon enjoyed his family, innovating and fabricating equipment, racing, and especially days at the lake.

Leon was a lifelong member of West Point Christian Church where he served as an elder, deacon, and Sunday School teacher.  He was on the Clinton County Fair Board, serving as President and Treasurer, Supervisor on the Clinton County Soil & Water Conservation District, and a Director on the AgMax Board of Directors.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughters, Stephanie (Andy) Davison and Cari (Kyle) Kirkendall of Frankfort; four grandchildren, Cole and Alex Davison and Logan and Natalie Kirkendall; brothers, Larry (Susan) Jordan of Peru, Rick (Gretchen) Jordan of Kokomo; brother-in-law, Wayne (Shirley) Watson of Kokomo; brother-in-law Bill Larimore of Kirklin; along with several nieces and nephews.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Sumner, sister: Janet Watson, sister-in-law: Karen Larimore, and nephew: Jeff Watson.

There will be a Celebration of Life gathering at the Jordan Farms Shop at 10133 East County Road 600 N, Forest on Saturday, August 24.
