Red Barn Summer Theatre Season Concludes This Week With Five Shows

This week marks the beginning of the end for the 2021 Red Barn Summer Theatre season.  The final five shows of this immensely popular production of The Marvelous Wonderettes will run Wednesday through Sunday of this week.  All shows begin at 7:30 p.m. except for the last show which is the 2:00 p.m. Sunday matinee.

The Marvelous Wonderettes is the musical story of four cheerleading friends from the Class of 1958 who have the opportunity to sing at their Senior Prom due to an unfortunate incident that kept the Boys Glee Club from performing.  Later, we see the same four women—Cindy Lou, Missy, Betty Jean and Suzy–return to their high school once again to sing but this time at their 10th class reunion.  The four women are portrayed by four energetic and talented actresses–Katherine Abel, Jordan Flora, Francesca Alfano and Kiara Wood.

The set design is by Michael Taylor, the technical director is Luke McLaughlin.  Allen Hayes is scene shop manager, Stevie Miller and Anthony Bacon manage sound operations while Aaron Moon is running the lights.

Playing on the lawn prior to the Wednesday, July 14 show will be popular Indianapolis keyboardist/musician Jeff Bowen. Thursday’s pre-show will feature Frankfort’s own singer-songwriter Hunter Wainscott.  On Friday July 16 an acoustic quartet from Indianapolis—Bitter Oak Revival—including Frankfort native Katie Trees Kercheval, will entertain on the lawn. The Cellar–wine and picnic area–will be open on Friday and Saturday only.

Tickets to the Red Barn Summer Theatre may be purchased on-line at redbarntheatre.net or by calling the Red Barn Box Office Wednesday through Saturday after 5:00 p.m. at 765-659-1657.
