Roberta “Jean” Evans

Roberta “Jean” Evans, 68, of Rural Frankfort, died July 28, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.  She was born on September 8, 1952 in Frankfort to C. Robert and Phyllis (Ricketts) Hawley.  She married Louis D. Evans on September 10, 1977 at the Bogantown Christian Church, east of Kirklin, and he survives.

Jean was a 1970 graduate of Clinton Central High School where she participated in the state track meet as a sprinter.  She attended Vincennes University and earned her Associates Degree from IU Kokomo.  Jean worked in the Clinton County Clerk’s Office before her most important job of raising her children.  She returned to the workforce at CVS, was a longtime member of the Kirklin Christian Church where she was the Church Secretary, and had most recently volunteered at the Salvation Army.  She served on the Clinton Central School Board for 16 years and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.  She loved her family and grandchildren and enjoyed gardening and crafts.

Surviving along with her husband: Louis Evans are her Son: Jerry “Skip” Shipp Jr. of Pineville, KY; Daughters: Katie (Brian) Cohee and Becky Reeder both of Frankfort; Brother: Jay (Sue) Hawley of Rural Kirklin; Sister: Janet (Bob) Thorley of Rural Kirklin; Sister-In-Law: Donna (John) Gedig of Indianapolis; Grandchildren: Gabriel Shipp, Evan Cohee, Paige Cohee, Pinne Reeder, and Mallare Reeder.  She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter: Sara Evans in 1991, and her 2 brothers-in-law: Rick and Ed Evans.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 2, 2021 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main Street, Frankfort.  Pastor Tom Holton will officiate.  Friends may visit 1-4 p.m. Sunday, August 1, 2021 at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Kirklin.  Memorial Donations may be made in Jean’s honor to the Kirklin Christian Church, P.O.
