Ruby I. Kressley, 84, of Frankfort, passed away on June 30, 2021, at her home. She was born on April 8, 1937, in Frankfort to Milton Ferrell and Vella Ruth (Michner) Higinbotham. She married Donald K. Kressley in Frankfort on May 30, 1954; he survives.
Ruby was a 1955 graduate of Frankfort High School. She had worked for P.R. Mallory, National Cigar, National Seal, and Pixie Playhouse before she began fostering children. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Frankfort and enjoyed traveling, boating on the Tippecanoe River, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving along with her husband, Donald, are her children, Donald E. (Betsy) Kressley of Frankfort, Steven K. (Joseph) Kressley of Indianapolis, Rebecca A. (Brian) Lambert of Frankfort, Roger A. (Katherine Wampler) Kressley of Columbus, Indiana, William S. Kressley of Frankfort, Amanda M. (Dylan) Sechman of PA; Patricia Crockett of Frankfort, Larry Long of FL, and many other children that also became part of the Kressley family; brother, Ferrell (LaVerne) Higinbotham of Roanoke, VA; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Betty Jean Higinbotham; child, Kay Long, and a great grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 26, 2021, from 5 pm – 8 pm at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 11 am at Frankfort First Church of the Nazarene 2056 E Wabash St, with burial following in the Bunnell Cemetery. Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort is entrusted with the arrangements.
Memorial contributions in Ruby’s honor may be made to Clinton County Family and Child or the Benchmark Family Services of Crawfordsville.
