The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office investigated three separate incidents involving requests for welfare checks on individuals:
First Incident- Clinton County Central Dispatch received a 911 call at approximately 5:50 a.m. reporting an elderly female walking along Farmers Gravel Road, west of State Road 39, wearing only a robe. Deputies checked the area and were unable to locate anyone. Central Dispatch received another 911 call at approximately 8:33 a.m. of a female walking in a field in the area of County Road 300 N and County Road 300 W. Deputies located the female and were able to determine it was the same female that was reported earlier. The female was identified as a 47-year-old female from Frankfort. A short time prior to her being located, she was reported as a missing person to the Frankfort Police Department. The female was transported from the scene by Clinton County EMS to IU Health Hospital in Frankfort for evaluation/treatment. She was reunited with family at the hospital.
Second Incident- Clinton County Central Dispatch received another 911 call at approximately 9:47 a.m. A resident reported an elderly male who appeared to be in distress and was holding onto a utility pole alongside the roadway in the area of County Road 250 N and County Road 0 E/W. Deputies located the man who was a 79-year-old man of rural Michigantown. He was transported from the scene by Clinton County EMS to IU Health Hospital in Frankfort for evaluation/treatment. The man was also reunited with family at the hospital.
Third Incident- Clinton County Central Dispatch received notice of the third incident via 911 at approximately 1:33 p.m. A resident on North State Road 29 reported an elderly female in the caller’s driveway. The caller stated the female appeared confused and was advising that her vehicle was disabled. Deputies located a 77-year-old female of Lafayette. She, too, was subsequently transported by Clinton County EMS to IU Health Hospital in Frankfort for evaluation/treatment.
“Indiana winters can be unpredictable. I want to thank all of the concerned citizens who saw something and said something today in what most certainly prevented any potential tragedies. The frigid temperatures and rural terrain can oftentimes lead to different outcomes in some of these instances. Thank You for taking the time to look out for others and dial 911 when you saw something that did not appear correct. Your compassion and vigilance got some much needed assistance to these individuals today!
