The Crawfordsville Police Department requested the Indiana State Police out of the Lafayette Post to investigate a police action shooting involving a Crawfordsville officer.
At approximately 8:10 p.m. Thursday, the Crawfordsville Police Department attempted to stop a Jeep Cherokee for a traffic violation in the 2000 block of Lebanon Road. A short pursuit ensued and the suspect stopped his vehicle at 150 N Banjo Drive. Officers began issuing commands and the suspect was uncooperative. The suspect then reportedly brandished a firearm towards officers. In self-defense, one of the officers fired at the suspect hitting the suspect at least once. The suspect was transported to Franciscan Hospital in Crawfordsville with unknown injuries. The suspect was later transported to St. Vincent hospital in Indianapolis. No officers or other people were injured in the incident.
The investigation is continuing. No further information will be provided at this time. The Indiana State Police are investigating the police action shooting.
