Sunday night starting at 9:36 PM you will see the very beginning of the total lunar eclipse that will be visible throughout the Shine 99/ WILO AM/FM listening area, weather permitting. The forecast is calling for about 50% cloud cover at midnight for our area, so the red moon should be visible from time to time between the clouds.
The Maximum Eclipse time for our area will be at about 12:12 AM just after midnight Monday Morning. At that time the moon will appear red due to the refracting rays of the sun bending through the earth’s atmosphere, much like the red you see in a sunset.
The eclipse will be done at 2:48 AM Monday morning so all the action will be between 9:36 PM and 2:48 AM.
You should start to see the red appear on the moon at about 11:41 PM and its maximum red color will be about 31 minutes later.
