On Saturday morning, a traffic stop by Indiana State Police Trooper Steven Glass led to the arrests of Ashunta Irby-Douglass, 30, Gary, Tadijah Davis, 20, and Gabriel Irby, 21 both from Indianapolis. All three were incarcerated in the Miami County Jail. Irby-Douglass faces charges for dealing marijuana, possession of marijuana with a prior conviction, neglect of a dependent, possession of paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance. Irby was arrested for possession of marijuana, two counts for possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, and neglect of a dependent. Davis was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana. Dymond Bible, 20, also from Indianapolis, was issued a summons to appear in court for possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
Irby also faces additional charges for possession of cocaine and trafficking with an inmate. Miami County correctional officers purportedly found suspected cocaine on Irby during the booking process. He also had an active arrest warrant, issued from Marion County, IN, for possession of cocaine.
Saturday at approximately 7:20 a.m., Glass initiated a traffic stop on a 2006 Pontiac passenger car, on U.S 31 near Miami Road 200 North, for allegedly traveling 79 miles per in a posted 60 miles per hour zone. The Pontiac was driven by Irby-Douglass. While Glass was speaking with Irby-Douglass, he purportedly smelled an odor of marijuana emitting from the Pontiac. Glass also noticed indicators that criminal activity might be afoot. Trooper Caleb Clark, and officers from the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, arrived to assist.
During a subsequent search of the Pontiac, and its occupants, officers purportedly found marijuana, unidentified prescription medication, suspected Xanax, cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and Oxycodone. Officers also purportedly found approximately $6,100 in counterfeit United States currency. Further investigation revealed that Irby-Douglass was driving without a valid operator’s license.
Irby-Douglass’ eight-year-old son was also in car. The child was released into the care of a family member.
