Uitts Says It’s Up to Everyone in County to Slow COVID Down

Clinton County Commissioners President Josh Uitts issued a statement Monday following the Commissioners meeting on what is becoming a dire situation in the county with COVID-19.

“We are as a county teetering dangerously on the line between orange for rate of positivity and being in the red,” said Uitts. “If we go into the red, we’re going to have to make some changes as far as how we operate the courthouse and our county government.”

Uitts added one other entity enters into the picture if we go into the red.

“At that point, the State Board of Health would become involved and that’s going to affect schools and public gatherings,” said Uitts.

What that basically means is that the county goes back to the beginning when most everything was shut down.

“This is up to everyone in Clinton County as to whether or not we continue to increase the rate of positivity, go into the red and make the decisions to shut things down or if we work as a community and practice the social distancing, wear the masks and we drive the rate of positivity down,” Uitts said.

Clinton County Health Department Health Officer Dr. Steve Tharp announced at Monday’s meeting that Clinton County has had 208 new cases the last 10 days.
