United Way of Clinton County released the numbers on this year’s campaign at its Annual Meeting Tuesday at the Paul Phillippe Resource Center. Overall, the agency fell short of its goal of $455,000 with a total of $430,183.15.

“It started out slow but it came in really strong at the end,” said 2018 United Way Campaign Chair Karen Gregorson. “Would loved to have seen the numbers even higher. But we think we’ve built something that’s going to be even stronger and better in the future.”

Gregorson broke down the top givers by groups. Industry led the way with $172,007, commercial unit was next at $57,382, public and social services followed at $47,281, leadership unit had $12,200, neighbors unit $11,350 and professional unit $7,045. Gregorson added there were 157 new donors, who brought in $41,000 in new money. Gregorson also said that 72 percent of donations came from five agencies.

“Overall, we’re very happy with our campaign,” said Gregorson.

United Way Executive Director Carolina Booth said United Way helped over 3,000 individuals and 60 families this past year.

“We’re thinking about the welfare of the future,” said Booth. “We’re not your grandparents’ United Way.”

Today’s United Way is bringing people, organizations and communities together around a common cause, a common vision, and a common path forward. They are building up the cornerstones of education, financial stability and health.

United Way also handed out several individual and group honors at the meeting. Best Industry Campaign Team went to Frito-Lay; Best Commercial Campaign Team — The Farmers Bank; Award of Merit — The Donaldson Company; United Way Volunteer of the Year — Tom Crawford and United Way Board of Director Member of the Year — Karen Gregorson.

United Way’s Community Partners are American Red Cross, Camp Cullom, Clinton County Boy Scouts of America, Clinton County Boys and Girls Club, Clinton County Girl Scouts, COACH Kids, Family Literacy, Food Finders Food Bank, Learning Ladder Childcare – Clinton County Family YMCA, Open Door Health Clinic, Paul Phillippe Resource Center, Quinton’s House, The ARC of Clinton County and The Salvation Army.

“I just want to thank the community for their support for United Way,” said Gregorson. “I know our agencies count on that as part of their budget. I want Clinton County to always have its own United Way. I think we’re putting ourselves in good position for that in the future.”

The 2019 Campaign Chair will be Jack Ransom.
