United Way Partners With Clinton County Family YMCA in 2021 With $31,000 Grant

The Clinton County Family YMCA is proud to announce that they were recently selected as a beneficiary of this year’s United Way Grant Campaign. Totaling $31,000, this year’s grant will not only aid in the development and implementation of our early childhood program but also for our school-aged childcare program that serves Frankfort and surrounding communities.

“We are proud of the diligent work that went into preparing our proposals for this year’s grant cycle,” stated CEO Emilee Norris. “The team has worked tirelessly to continue to innovate and create a bright future for our community. We look forward to taking this gift and utilizing it to continue to serve the families of Clinton County with a safe and nurturing environment for their children. The work we do would not be possible without the help of our generous donors or the support of the United Way of Clinton County.”

Director of Child Care Services Kristen Rich was one of the presenters for the grant to the United Way and was responsible for positioning the Y in this ideal position to receive the grant funding. “I’m excited to see another partnership with the United Way continue to benefit the children of Clinton County and our teachers with additional educational resources.”

United Way Director Anita Stewart recently shared, “It takes the whole community working together, and that has been United Way’s experience with the YMCA. Together we can have a huge impact with children in the community. The YMCA provides great resources to those in need within our community.  The Early Learning Ladder programs focus on the younger children and continues with the educational process with the after school programs. It takes a village!”

This grant comes at an ideal time for the Y. With the recent transition of CEOs and a continual uphill climb out of COVID, the Y has faced challenges in maintaining operations amidst a very difficult time. Not only did the organization invest over $170,000 into the pool to keep it open for the community, but they also invested almost $30,000 into a new HVAC system to upgrade from the existing equipment. Other improvements include sod laid in the playground for our early childhood program, made possible by the support of the United Way, upgraded sinks in the locker room facilities, and updated flooring and paint in our Child Watch area.

The Clinton County Family YMCA has been a landmark in Frankfort, IN for many years. As a staple in the local community for childcare, fitness, and food provision amongst other programs, the Y is the home to many classes, volunteers, and staff members who are passionate about making their community a better place.
