View John F. Kennedy Letter To WILO and Vern Kaspar

57 years ago tomorrow, John F. Kennedy wrote a letter to Vern Kaspar.  The letter was written on October 28th, 1960.  Eleven days later John F. Kennedy would be elected 35th President of the United States.

The letter came to Vern Kaspar’s Frankfort home at 208 North East Street.  (My home at the time, too, as a 6 year old)

The letter states:

_______________

Dear Mr. Kasper:

Many thanks for the splendid job you are doing in my behalf.  Your enthusiastic support is most heartwarming.   Looking forward to a Democratic victory on November 8th, I am with warm regards,  John F. Kennedy

Many who know Kaspar Broadcasting Co., Inc. founder V.J. Kaspar may be surprised at the content of the letter.  Vern Kaspar is known for his strong conservative views and is not bashful about letting those views be known in editorials and as a host of talk shows on his stations in Indiana and Missouri.

Do you remember anything about the letter or anything having to do with the letter?  Vern Kaspar answered “I voted for him”.

Kennedy ran, among other things, on tax cuts and tax reform.  Vern Kaspar is looking forward to tax cuts again this year.
