Frankfort Parks Superintendent Travis Sheets has announced that the TPA Park Youth Trout Tournament will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, at the Golf Course Pond in TPA Park.
There are four age categories: Category ‘A’ (children ages up to 6 years old); Category ‘B’ (children ages 7-12 years old); Category ‘C’ (fly casting open to anyone up to 16 years old); and Category ‘D’ (youth ages 13-16 years old). The registration cost, including a T-shirt, is $22 and the registration deadline is 3 p.m. on Friday, March 9.
Each participant, regardless of age, must be paired with an adult, who will be able to assist but not participate in actual fishing. Every catch must be measured and registered by tournament volunteer and then released. Each heat will timed for 30 minutes of fishing (bring your own fishing pole and bait). Participants may only engage in one of the four categories and prizes will be awarded after all four heats have concluded.
Heats are scheduled as follows: Category’A’ (begins at 9 a.m.); Category ‘B’ (begins at 9:45 a.m.); Fly Casting (begins at 10 a.m.) and Youth (begins at 10:45 a.m.).
