The Community Foundation of Boone County announced that First Farmers Bank and Trust established a new community impact fund noted as the First Farmers Fund for the Future of Boone County.
The fund is intended to support the changing needs of Boone County by providing a means to empower local residents to support the community through a variety of donation opportunities. Senior Vice President and Director of Communications and Public Relations at First Farmers Bank and Trust Tade Powell commented about the established fund.
“First Farmers Bank and Trust is proud to establish the First Farmers Fund for the Future of Boone County,” Powell said. “This initiative underscores our commitment to empowering and strengthening our local communities. With the generous matching grant opportunity, every dollar contributed will go even further in enhancing the quality of life in Boone County and creating lasting, positive change. We look forward to seeing the impact this fund will have on the future of Boone County.”
Through a matching grant as part of the eighth phase of Lilly Endowment Inc.’s initiative, Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow, eligible donations for the fund will be matched with $2 for every $1 donated while matching dollars are still available. Community Foundation of Boone County CEO Julie Reagan expressed her excitement for the fund.
“We are thrilled to partner with First Farmers Bank and Trust with this meaningful initiative,” Reagan said. “We appreciate their commitment to our community. This fund will empower us to continue making a positive impact in the lives of Boone County residents, and we are excited to see the matching grant opportunity help maximize the impact of the bank’s investment with CFBC.”
The Drayer Family also contributed to jumpstart the fund, and the family challenged others in the agriculture community to join in supporting the effort.
Local farmers have been invited to contribute to the fund through gifts of grain, which will impact the foundation directly while providing a potential tax benefit to the farmers. According to the foundation, donating crops and contributing the proceeds allows for farmers to reduce their taxable income while playing a role in supporting Boone County’s future.
