The National Weather Service announced the implementation of a wind advisory that will be in effect from 5 p.m. today, Friday, March 14 through 4 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, March 15 with south winds averaging around 20 to 30 miles per hour with gusts of 45 to 55 miles per hour expected.
The advisory has been set for portions of central, east central, north central, south central, southeast, southwest and west central Indiana.
Gusty winds are expected to blow around unsecured objects, and tree limbs may be blown down with a few power outages possible as a result.
Higher gusts are possible within showers and thunderstorms overnight Friday into early Saturday.
A low fire weather risk late this afternoon and evening is also possible with increasing winds and relative humidity values falling below 30%.
Winds may make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Drivers are encouraged to exercise additional caution as the winds pick up speed.
