AARP Tax-Aide Program Running Low on Availability

The AARP Tax Aide program is currently offering free assistance for low to moderate income and elderly taxpayers. Tax assistance is available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays at the Frankfort Neighborhood Center, 259 S Third Street in Frankfort. They are currently booked out until April 1.

Individuals interested in having their taxes done will have to call 765-239-9609, leave a message on the machine and leave a good time for Tax Aide to call them back. After the appointment is made, they need come to the Neighborhood Center to pick up the packet.

Appointments will only be available through April 8.

Taxpayers must bring a government-issued picture ID, and social security card or information verifying the social security number, for each person on their tax return. Also, bring wage earnings (W-2’s), interest statements from banks, pension statements, last year’s tax returns, property tax statement, record of rent paid, and any other information on expenses and income. Those who purchased health insurance through the Marketplace must bring their form 1095A.
