April Clinton County Genealogical Society Meeting Set for Michigan Road Library

The Clinton County Genealogical Society will meet at the Michigan Road Library on April 25 at 5:30 p.m. Following the business meeting, Sam Fields will be giving a tour of the Michigantown Lions Club Alumni Community Center.  Thanks to many donors and the hard work of the Michigantown Lions Club, what remains of the Michigantown School is being restored and maintained.  In addition to restoring the building, they have also created a museum that focuses not only on Michigantown School, but also on the schools that consolidated to form what is now Clinton Central.  If you attended one of those schools, you will no doubt find your picture on display there.

Sam Fields, a graduate of Michigantown High School, went on to teach at Kirklin, Michigantown, and Clinton Central.  He also served as principal at Michigantown and Vice Principal at Clinton Central Elementary.  After retiring, he and his wife Carolyn wrote a book entitled Living in the Heartland: The History of Michigan Township and Michigantown in Clinton County, Indiana.  Sam and Carolyn are passionate about preserving and sharing local history through their work on the museum exhibits.

This meeting is free and open to the public.
