Clinton County Family Farm Receives Hoosier Homestead Award at the Indiana State Fair

The Need Family Farm was recently recognized at the Indiana State Fair for being in operation for 102 years, according to State Sen. Brian Buchanan (R-Lebanon) and State Rep. Heath VanNatter (R-Kokomo).

The Need Family Farm, located in Clinton County and in operation since 1916, received a Hoosier Homestead Centennial Award during a special ceremony on Friday, Aug. 10.

“Contributing more than $31 billion annually and supporting more than 107,000 Hoosier jobs, Indiana’s agriculture industry is a major part of our economy and culture,” Buchanan said. “This family deserves special recognition for their dedication to their farm and Indiana’s agriculture community.”

“Family-owned farms benefit their communities and help support local economies,” VanNatter said. “This award is not only a celebration of their longevity, but also recognizes their contributions to their communities over the years.”

The Hoosier Homestead Award Program recognizes farms that have been owned and maintained by the same family for 100 years or more.Families can qualify for the centennial, sesquicentennial or bicentennial award.
