Clinton County Special Olympics Thundercats Teams Take On State Championships This Weekend

Clinton County Special Olympics team play at the 2023 Hoopin’ for a Cause event.

The Clinton County Special Olympics teams look to take on the 2024 State Basketball Tournament this weekend at the Pacer’s Athletic Center at 200 E. 186th St. in Westfield.

The Clinton County Thundercats will take to the courts at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 23 for the 5v5 Dark Blue 3C division against the Lake County Firecrackers. The winner of the game will play again at 4 p.m. against either the Tippecanoe County Hornets or the Wayne County Dragons for the state championship title. The loser of the game will play at 3 p.m. for the chance to receive the bronze medal.

The Clinton County Women Thundercats will take to the courts at 9 a.m. on Sunday, March 24 for the 3v3 Turquoise division against the Decatur County Cheetas. The Clinton County Women Thundercats will also take center stage at 10:30 a.m. against the Allen County Cougars. The division winner will be determined by record, points for and points against.

The Clinton County MM Thundercats will take to the courts at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 24 for the 3v3 Lime Green division against the Posey County Dinosaurs. The winner of the game will face off against either the Boone County Hot Shots or the Clark Floyd Tigers at 2:30 p.m. for the state championship title. The loser of the game will face off at 2:30 p.m. as well for the chance to secure the bronze medal.

Spectators are welcome to join the cheering section for the Clinton County teams with no entry fee.

The Clinton County Special Olympics also announced that the first practice and call-out for volleyball will be on Thursday, April 4 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Frankfort Middle School gym. Any new athletes must complete the online registration at specialolympics.org and a physical in order to practice. According to the Clinton County Special Olympics, volleyball is a summer games sport and commitment.
