COACH Kids Celebrates Successful School Year, Announces Summer and Fall Events

COACH Kids is celebrating another successful year of mentoring and student support across Clinton County schools while preparing for several upcoming community events and initiatives.

The organization recently hosted end-of-year celebrations for students and mentors at Rossville, Frankfort, Clinton Prairie, and Clinton Central schools. The events were made possible through a grant from the Community Foundation Serving Howard, Clinton & Carroll Counties and provided an opportunity to recognize the relationships built throughout the school year.

Building on that success, COACH Kids plans to introduce beginning-of-year celebrations during the upcoming school year. The new events, also funded through the Community Foundation grant, are designed to help mentors and mentees connect before their first official meetings.

Throughout the spring, COACH Kids representatives attended nine school awards ceremonies, including four underclassmen ceremonies, four senior awards programs, and one middle school ceremony at Clinton Prairie. During the events, mentors involved with the program were recognized, and graduating seniors received commemorative cords acknowledging their participation in COACH Kids.

The organization also awarded scholarships to five graduating seniors. This year’s recipients included Brooklynn Hall of Clinton Central, Brennan Smith of Clinton Prairie, Kaleb Compton of Frankfort High School, and Kaybree Bogan and Olivia James of Rossville High School.

Looking ahead, COACH Kids is preparing for several community events, including the Stars & Stripes Car Show, the annual Hot Dog Festival Breakfast and Cornhole Tournament, and the Back-to-School Waddle.

One of the organization’s signature fundraising events, the COACH Kids Annual Breakfast and Cornhole Tournament, will take place July 25 at Prairie Creek Park.

The breakfast will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Prairie Creek Park Event Center. Guests can enjoy biscuits and gravy, sausage links, fresh fruit, and a drink for $7. Children ages 5 and younger will eat free. The breakfast is sponsored by Goodwin Funeral Home.

Cornhole registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with tournament play starting at 9:30 a.m. at Prairie Creek Park. Adult teams may enter for $40 per team, while youth participants age 15 and younger may enter for $5 per player. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first- and second-place adult teams, while youth participants will compete for prizes in their division. The cornhole tournament is sponsored by Ellis Jewelers.

COACH Kids is also seeking event sponsors. Businesses and individuals can participate through the Top Dog Sponsorship level for $100. Sponsors will receive name and logo placement on event T-shirts, recognition at event locations, and one breakfast ticket. Sponsorship commitments are due by June 30.
