On Sunday afternoon, Cub Scout Pack 338 of Frankfort held their end of year awards ceremony at Camp Collum. A total of 15 scouts have met rank and were awarded their completed rank’s patch to proudly wear on their uniform. Over the past year they have been hard at work in many ways. Meetings outside and meetings indoors. Meeting over Zoom and meetings in-person. They have learned various skills and lessons such as knot tying, the five essentials to bring on a hike, cooking over a campfire, and providing service to the community.

The service began with a flag ceremony lead by the entire pack with the oldest cub scouts carrying the flags to their proper placement followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Cubmaster, Kyle Shaffer, opened with thanking everyone for coming. The cub scouts were then instructed to stand up, turn around, and face their parents. They were then asked to give the parents and family members in attendance a big round of applause in thanks for helping them get to where they are. Awards were then handed out to each scout with recognition for each requirement.

The ceremony also held a monumental milestone for both Pack 338 and Clinton County. A ritual known a “Crossover” was held for Ronee Fisher, Clinton County’s first female cub scout to “graduate” from Cub Scouts and begin her scouting journey with a scouting troop. The Cubmaster gave a few words of wisdom before he escorted her to cross over the ceremonial bridge signaling her advancement to join Girls Troop 3380 of Frankfort. She was greeted and accepted into the Troop by Scoutmaster, Katrina Glass and Senior Patrol Leader, Brenna Glass. The ceremony concluded with applause and a group picture of all the scouts in attendance. Refreshments were provided by Susan Galvan and Pack 338.
